Topkapi Palace at a glance
Topkapı Palace stands close to Hagia Sophia in Sultanahmet. The palace gate, Bab-ı Hümayun, is near the temporary visitor entrance of Hagia Sophia, so the two fit easily into one day in the Old City.
For foreign visitors the listed combined ticket already includes the palace, the Harem and Hagia Irene. Do not add the Harem to the combined price a second time. It is only sold separately if you want the Harem or Hagia Irene on their own.

Topkapi Palace tickets: children, students and passes
Who pays less and what to bring.
Children
Children aged 0 to 6 enter free. A reduced rate applies from 7 to 25 years in the English version of the listing. From age 12, bring an ISIC card to claim it.
Students from abroad
The English listing says foreign students pay double the reduced rate. Because the wording varies by language, ask at the ticket desk what you will pay and bring your ISIC card.
Museum Pass
Check the current inclusion list before you count on the Istanbul Museum Pass for the palace, Harem or Hagia Irene. The Müzekart is a different card and does not cover the Harem or Hagia Irene.
Istanbul Museum Pass →Valid for one day
The combined ticket works for one day from the date you buy it. Plan the palace, the Harem and Hagia Irene on the same day.
Opening hours and closed days
The palace is open for visits from 09:00 to 17:30. The ticket desks are open from 09:00 to 17:00. It is closed every Tuesday. It is also closed on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the festival after Ramadan. Check the current timetable on holidays before you go.
No fixed visit length is listed. The ticket is valid for one day and the palace closes at 17:30, so start in the morning if you want to see all three parts.
Getting here
Take the T1 tram and get off at Sultanahmet or Gülhane. Do not get off at the T1 stop called Topkapı. It is a different place and not the stop at the palace. Gülhane and Sultanahmet are served separately on the same line.
